A blank cell in the table below means one of two very different things, and this page never lets them blur together:

Checked, found absent — 32 fields A brand's own document was opened, the field was looked for, the date is on record, and it is not there. This is evidence about that document.
Not yet checked — 222 fields Nobody on this project has opened a document to look. This is a gap in this project's own coverage, not a finding about any brand — and it is the larger of the two numbers.

Only the first bucket is ever counted against a brand's publish rate below. The second bucket is this project's backlog, printed rather than hidden, exactly because folding it into the first bucket would be making a claim about a brand that this project's own search does not support.

CF-0201 affects which pairing looks best, not just by how much

Welder (stick / MIG)

One brand’s specification sheet for one welder states three input figures that do not agree with each other: a rated amperage, an apparent-power figure and a real-power figure. Multiplying the printed amperage by the printed voltage lands well below the printed apparent-power figure — the same one-page document is internally inconsistent, not two different documents disagreeing. This project has not guessed which figure the brand meant; the site’s compatibility guidance takes the more conservative of the readings and says so.

Starlink Mini

The same brand currently publishes two different lower bounds for the same device’s average power draw — one on its support site, one on its own specification sheet — while both documents agree on the upper bound. Neither figure is stale or superseded; both are live, official pages from the same maker. The gap moves a runtime estimate by roughly a fifth without changing whether any pairing on this site can run the device at all.

Variable-speed pool pump

One pool-pump model number carries three different efficiency ratings across three current, official documents: the maker’s own product brochure, the maker’s own installation manual, and a federal efficiency-certification database — the manual additionally splits its figure by wiring voltage, which the other two do not. This site’s figures for this appliance class are sourced from a different brand entirely rather than from any of the three, precisely because they could not be reconciled; the discrepancy is recorded here so a reader checking this specific model number’s efficiency sees, before relying on any single document, that two other official ones give a different figure for it.

194 source citations behind the checked fields above, and every one of them is tier official — a manufacturer specification sheet, manual, product page, support article, or a government / standards-body document. This project holds no measured tier of its own (no laboratory) and no user-submitted tier for these fields.

Method

Every count on this page is generated from the same 38-record appliance load corpus this site’s pages and its open dataset are built from, by a script that reads each field’s ValueMeta envelope directly: a non-null value counts as published and is attributed to whichever brand’s document the figure’s own source_label names; a null value counts as checked-and-absent only when it carries an absence_verified block naming that brand’s own document and the date it was read; every other null counts as not-investigated. A source whose name is not brand-prefixed — a government efficiency filing, a standards body — is attributed to a normalised publisher name rather than dropped, because a comparison between what a regulator publishes and what a manufacturer publishes is exactly the comparison this index exists to make.

Generated 2026-08-16 by data-staging/transparency-index-stats.py against site/src/data/appliances/*.json (38 records) + site/src/data/conflicts.json (register). Reproducible: the script takes no network input, and re-running it against a later corpus snapshot is a checked-in file update, not a live recomputation on every build — the same posture as this site's other open datasets.

What this index does not claim

No inference about why A brand with a low publish rate on the fields this project checked has no stated figure for those fields in the documents this project read. Nothing here says why — a commercial choice, an oversight, a figure that genuinely does not apply to that product. This page states what a document contains and what it leaves out, never a reason for the gap.
Not a brand rating The publish-rate column is not a score of build quality, safety or customer service. It is the share of specific electrical, duty-cycle and energy fields a brand's own document states, for the specific models in this project's corpus, on the specific fields this project checked.
Not full coverage of any brand's catalogue This corpus holds 38 load records, not every product a brand sells. A brand's row reflects only the models this project has built pages for.
The larger bucket is ours, always This index tracks 21 electrical, duty-cycle and energy fields across the load records this site has actually built — not every specification a datasheet might carry, and not every appliance category that exists. A brand’s 100% figure here means it answered everything this project asked its documents; a brand’s low figure means the opposite, for the specific fields this project checked, on the specific model this project’s corpus records. Neither figure is a rating of the brand’s products, its safety or its customer service, and none of the totals below explain why a brand’s own documents contain what they contain — only what this project found on the date it checked them.
