What WattPair is

WattPair is a configuration engine for off-grid power. You name the thing you need to run — a chest freezer, a rooftop air conditioner, a CPAP machine — and the site works out whether a given power station can run it, for how long, and which machine to buy instead when it cannot. If you have ever used a parts-compatibility checker to plan a computer build, the shape will be familiar.

It is not a review blog and not a list of deals. There are no star ratings here and no "best of" rankings written from a press release. There is a verdict, the numbers it was computed from, and a link to the document each number came from.

Four situations bring people here, and they want different things from the same hardware. The engine is one engine; the entry points are not.

Why these numbers are worth reading

Anyone can divide a battery's watt-hours by an appliance's watts. That answer is wrong in four separate ways, and every one of them makes it too flattering. What follows is the discipline that produces a different answer — described in full on the methodology page.

Every figure carries its source Manufacturer specification, a measurement of our own, or a reader's log — with the document it came from and the date it was read. Not one figure on this site is unattributed. Today every one of them is a manufacturer specification: no lab measurement and no reader log exists in the library yet; when one does it will be labelled as such, and nothing on this site claims one before then.
Nothing is estimated into existence Where a maker never published a number, the page says the number does not exist rather than filling the gap with something plausible. Today 6 of 29 station records may show a runtime in hours; the rest show none, because their usable energy has never been published in a form that survives checking.
Incomplete records do not become pages A record missing a number that a verdict depends on is held back rather than published with a hole in it. 6 records are in that state right now.
Contradictions are shown, not smoothed When a maker's manual and its own product page disagree, both numbers and the disagreement appear on the page. Where the contradiction blocks a verdict, no verdict is issued.
Regions are separate machines A model sold at 230 V and the same model sold at 120 V routinely differ in usable energy, expandability and even stock status. They are stored as separate records, because treating them as one is how a specification sheet becomes wrong in half the world.
No claimed testing There is no test bench behind this site, and nothing here is written as though there were. WattPair holds no measured record of any kind — not one figure on any station, appliance or panel in the library comes from a measurement of ours. The measured tier exists in the data model and is empty, which is exactly what the pages say.

Who publishes it, and how it is paid for

WattPair is an independent, self-funded project published under the site name WattPair. It is not owned by, affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any manufacturer or retailer, and no brand sees a page before it publishes. Manufacturer names appear here as the subjects of the data; nothing more should be read into them.

The site is funded by affiliate links. If you buy through a retailer link here, WattPair may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked as paid links in the markup, they open in a new tab, and they go straight to the product page.

The part that matters: the engine that decides what a page says has no access to which link pays more. Verdicts, rankings and thresholds are computed from the specifications and the rules published on the methodology page, and a machine that cannot run your load is called out as such however well it converts. Nobody can buy a verdict, a placement or a mention here.

The site is new and says so. It covers 15 power station models across two regions rather than everything on the market, because a smaller library that is right is worth more than a large one that is guessed. It grows by adding records that survive the same checks, not by generating pages.

Corrections

If a number here is wrong, it is worth more to us than to you to have it fixed. Send the model, the field and the document that contradicts it, and it gets checked against the source rather than argued about. A corrected figure keeps its history: what it was, what it became, and which document moved it. The channel is on the contact page.
